某些多幕剧的第一幕之前的一场戏，用以介绍剧中人物历史和剧情发生的原因，或预示全剧主题。亦泛指某些叙事性文学作品在情节未展开前，对人物的历史、所处的时代背景和社会环境以及主要人物之间的关系所作的交代和提示。
